k.d. lang said about this video: "I think it's great. I love your narrative read on the lyrics!!! Good job."
This made for a very happy Holly!
Helloooo :)
Thank you for coming to my website, it's nice to meet you. ;)
I'm Holly Kirby, a singer-songwriter from the Isle of Wight, England. I write and perform songs and produce music videos. You can see some of them on my alpet07 YouTube music channel, which totals over a million views, and has more than ten thousand subscribers. :) One of my earliest videos led to a live appearance on a popular British TV show a few years ago, performing "Orinoco Flow" as Enya -some people still remember me from that!
My music is mainly pop/celtic/folky but it depends on which mood I'm in at the time really. I sing and play the guitar, piano, ukulele and Appalachian Dulcimer. People who have influenced my music include Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Joni Mitchell, k.d.lang, Sandy Denny, Amy MacDonald, Texas/Sharleen Spiteri, Dido. According to one fan on YouTube, I sound like "...a mix of Lily Allen, Dido, Enya and Rachel Luttrell. I think we can throw in a bit of Lisa Kelly while we're at it." Cool, huh? :D
I love writing and performing songs. I've played lots of private functions, gigs, and festivals, including the Isle of Wight Festival (acoustic and Kashmir stages), the Wickham Festival (main stage), and Bestival. You can see videos of some of these events on my news page. A couple of years ago I also entered and won a UK video competition, the prize of which was to play live on stage with Scottish singer-songwriter Amy MacDonald, which was brilliant
I started studying Creative Music Technology at Surrey University in September 2010, which I intend to use to develop my music further, but I hope to still be available for gigs, festivals and other live music events in the local region (Surrey, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, and Southern England generally). If you would like me to perform at your live entertainment event, or you would like to use my music for any purpose, please contact me here. :)
Holly is currently in the process of recording her second CD. She's very excited about it. If you would like to help fund her work, you can purchase the first CD or music on her listen and shop page or click the button below! Thank you. :-)
